Our Timeline
1981
Founded in Salt Lake City
Bill Davidson opened Davidson Sales & Engineering in Salt Lake City, Utah, building on the model established by Jerry Miller of Miller Sales & Engineering in Arizona. Both companies developed reputations for expertise in selling and representing manufacturers of pumping equipment used primarily in the mining and minerals industry.
Early 1980s
Early Growth
Bill partnered with Jack Dimock and Don Sampson to help grow the company. Throughout the decade DSE added personnel, expanded product lines, and moved offices several times to accommodate the firm's growth.
1980s — 1990s
Diversification Across Industries
DSE diversified beyond the minerals industry, growing into a full industrial distributor representing manufacturers in food processing, oil and gas refining, chemical production, power generation, and municipal wastewater.
1995
Ownership Transition
Bill Davidson elected to retire and sold the company to his business partners. Brad Walton, Dick Irvine, Russell Smith, and Larry Swift continued to grow the company and expand its manufacturer relationships.
2000
Move to West Valley City & Major Expansion
DSE became the master distributor for Weir Minerals and acquired the assets of Norm Crockett and Associates, the Warman representative. With the combined inventory and assets, the company moved to its current location in West Valley City, Utah. The new facility enabled expansion into factory-authorized service and equipment repair for all manufacturer lines.
2000s — Present
Full-Service Process Equipment Specialist
DSE expanded into mechanical seals, industrial mixing equipment, lubrication systems, and filtration systems for fuels, lubricants, water, and air. Today DSE is a team of 18 professionals with over 200 years of combined experience in the Intermountain West, serving Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana.
